Nile is a veteran music educator who has been teaching orchestra for the past twenty years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at St. Scholastica’s College in the Philippines, where she studied violin performance with Juilliard alumnus Basilio Manalo. Within three years of emigrating to the United States, she completed a master’s degree at Old Dominion University in Virginia, where she also studied violin performance with former Virginia Symphony concertmaster Vahn Armstrong. Nile was an Orchestra Director for Northside Independent School District (NISD) in San Antonio, TX for 11 years. Nile’s groups consistently received Superior ratings in University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sightreading events.
She is currently the Secondary Orchestra Director of the Hempfield School District in Landisville, PA, a position she has held since 2016. Nile is featured as a case study of exemplary classroom management and teaching in several publications by best-selling authors Dr. Harry and Rosemary Wong. As a lifelong learner, she pursued more advanced degrees while working full-time as a public school music educator. She holds a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from Messiah University. She also earned an Education Specialist degree and a PhD in Instrumental Music Education from Auburn University. While a student at Auburn, she won the 2024 College Music Society Northeast Chapter's Diane W. Follett Outstanding Student Scholarship Award for her qualitative research on the practice habits of high school string instrumentalists. Nile continues to be an active orchestra musician while also maintaining a full-time career as an orchestra director.
Outside of music, Nile is a spare-time seamstress and a martial artist who studies Wado Ryu Karate and Five Ancestor Kung Fu. Nile lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two daughters, and their beloved pets.
